August 14th Wedding

Ronnie and Briana

Dear Hotel Maya, thank you for being easier for me to find this time around....and for that, I forgive you for the last wedding I worked. :)

It was an eeeaaarrrlllyyy morning and looooong day for me on Saturday! I had to be at Deanne's house (BellaFiore) at 9:30 in the morning to arrange the flowers for this ceremony as well as start on others for the same day. The colors were beautiful, oranges, greens, browns, yellows..a fresh summer assortment of colors that went along with the color scheme of the Hotel Maya beautifully. Not only that! I was left to set up the reception area, ceremony area, tend to the families of the brides as well as transport stuff to and from their rooms to the reception area....alll by myself! I was working solo that day while Trini was in LA at a convention until she arrived at 3ish...but by that time I was already completely set up..with all of the important stuff at least. I was definitely proud of myself. This wedding really proved to me that I can take on a lot more than I realized and am able to juggle client's needs as well as communicating with the venue as well as my own boss. I happily patted myself on the back at the end of the night :) Also! This was the very first wedding that I worked with long time family friend Raul Mora @ R&R Entertainment (www.RnREntertainment.com) whom I refer to as Tio Raul since I've known him since I was like 5 years old! Never once did I ever think I would work with him as a vendor in my career! And that night I worked with him as a professional and it was really really out of this world. A great feeling :) Familiar faces are always nice...and not to be biased or anythingggg but he is a very very VERY talented DJ and Emcee. I definitely worked hard and learned lots more at Ronnie and Briana's wedding through both Raul and my boss Trini. Along with that, I had so much fun at the wedding itself because everyone there was just sooo lively!! I even danced with one of the bride's grandmothers :) She was sweet :)

Veronica and Briana's wedding was the second one I assisted with Trini and the first lesbian ceremony that I've both witnessed and worked. People kept asking me "how was it?" "was it....different??" Well let me tell you this, first off, I am a very opened minded person and I believe that people are allowed to love whomever they want to love and shouldn't be judged by it. So getting the chance to work at this wedding was truly an honor for me. And honestly, it was like any other wedding I've been too, seen, or experienced...just with two women instead of a man and a woman. I'm sure that I will experience many more in my future in the wedding industry and I'm looking forward to them :) It was a truly beautiful wedding! Congrats Ronnie and Briana!!

Blanca and Eric Invites

These invites are sleek and elegant, very classy, black and white invites on Envelopments paper, designed again by Monica @ Paper Cut Industries, consult by Trini @ Nozza Studio, and assembled by yours truly :) The clients wanted over 55 in spanish, and over 45 in english. A smaller order than the Claudia and Sergio order, but more pieces to assemble in this order. They wanted a double layer outer label as well as double layer invite.

Claudia and Sergio Invites

Last week I knocked out 3 orders, HUGE orders, well at least it seemed like never ending work. haha. Claudia and Sergio wanted 75 spanish invites and 75 english invites! Good thing I didn't have to glue millions of little rhinestones on the invites this time ;) They came out beautifully. Design by Monica @ Paper Cut Industries, paper by Envelopments, client consult by Trini @ Nozza Studio, and assembled by yours truly.

Crazy Busy Week!

Here, there, everywhere!
When it came to running back and forth to the printer last week, man, I was impatient. I'm the type of person who doesn't like waiting on people or things to be finished when I have lotss of other things to be doing at the studio. :o Along with having a wedding to look forward to on August 14th for Ronnie and Briana....my second one assisting..I had a lot to look forward to and a lot to get done!

Ilia & Evan Wedding August 7th 2010

First off, I would like to say that Google Maps and Irvine are not on my good side anymore. Getting to this venue was definitely a hassle! AND if you missed the first turn into the driveway at 7 Degrees, you had to drive until you were even able to make a U-turn and it was a Saturday....so it was busy. Its especially hard when you've never been to the venue so you don't really know what to expect. Soooooo....I think I need a Garmin...or a TomTom.....who wants to make donations to buying me an iPhone 4 so I won't get lost anymore? Any takers? hehehe.

Here it goes everyone! Ilia and Evan's wedding was my first official wedding as Trini's assistant. :) It was definitely a great experience. Who ever thought that making sure everything goes smoothly at a wedding was so much work! It really makes me appreciate the wedding as a whole, especially if I were just the guest at a future wedding.

There is soo much that goes on behind the scenes of a wedding that no one really realizes. Timing is everything and following the itinerary is the best thing ever! Telling people where they need to be at what time is very crucial to running a successful wedding. I honestly felt like at certain times I was a farmer herding sheep into one specific spot. It was great!

Making sure that mic's were working, lighting was just right in certain areas of the reception area, making sure people didn't jump the gun and try scarfing down the dessert table before the Bride and Groom even cut the cake...it was all such an invigorating rush!

Here are a few photos of the reception area, escort cards, and dessert table :)

Instead of table numbers, the tables were named after the couple's favorite games :) aaw

The Headtable with a view of the rest of the Gallery

166 Escort cards had to be all lined up perfectly, took me foreverrrr haha

Desserts by Sweet & Saucy in Long Beach (http://www.sweetandsaucyshop.com/)

Oh my goodness those were the best chocolate covered-chocolate
cake pops! I wanted to eat them all!

It was definitely a fresh approach to the classic wedding cake most other couples still turn to. There were so many mini desserts and one mini cake for the Bride and Groom to cut. I loved the idea and the desserts were definitely "sweet" ;)

I'm looking forward to the next wedding on the 14th! I definitely love my job. I took a huge risk...and it's all uphill from here.

July 31st Wedding

First off, Dear Hotel Maya in Long Beach, you were hard to find....your stupid road led me to the Queen Mary. I did not want to go to the Queen Mary, and for that, you fail.

Rant over.

Okay. :)

Yet another wedding I set up solo! This one, I was more proud of than my first! I was able to put more of my own flare into the ceremony area and I was verrryyyy pleased with how everything turned out!!
I arrived at around 10:30 AM, and this was my view from the Hotel Maya! Oh how I love the city I work in!! I fall more and more in love with it every time I am there.

Clean canvas.
Silver vases hung by wine colored ribbon :) filled with hot pink roses, eggplant purple calla lilies, and mauve colored orchids.
